Triplex DM

Generic Name:dextromethorphan hydrobromide, pyrilamine maleate, and phenylephrine hydrochloride

Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant. It helps to control the signals in the brain which can cause cough.

Phenylephrine is a decongestant which helps to shrink blood vessels in the nasal passages as the dilated blood vessels result in nasal congestion or stuffy nose.

Pyrilamine is an antihistamine which helps in reducing the natural chemical histamine in the human body.

Triplex DM helps to treat runny or stuffy nose, sinus congestion, watery eyes and other symptoms which are due to allergies or the common cold and flu.

How to use Triplex DM Syrup

Triplex DM may be used as follows:

  • Always take Triplex DM exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
  • Never use Triplex DM in large amounts or for longer than recommended.
  • Never give Triplex DM to a child as death can occur from the misuse of Triplex DM in very young children.
  • You should not crush chew or break the Triplex DM tablet.
  • Always swallow the pill whole.
  • Always make it a point to measure the liquid form of Triplex DM with a special dose-measuring spoon or cup and not a regular table spoon. If you do not have a dose-measuring device then get one.
  • Always shake the oral suspension liquid of Triplex DM well just before you measure a dose.

Cautions before Use Triplex DM Syrup

People with the following symptoms should not use Triplex DM:

  • liver disease
  • high blood pressure
  • heart disease
  • enlarged prostate
  • glaucoma
  • a blockage in your digestive tract

Stop using Triplex DM and call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:

  • Anxiety
  • Severe dizziness
  • Nervousness
  • Upper stomach pain
  • Restless feeling
  • Confusion
  • Fast pounding or uneven heartbeats
  • Easy bruising or bleeding
  • Weakness
  • Easy bruising or bleeding
  • Body aches
  • Fever chills
  • Increased blood pressure
  • Flu symptoms
  • Nausea
  • Itching
  • Jaundice
  • Loss of appetite

Less serious side effects

  • Feeling restless or excited (especially in children)
  • Upset stomach
  • Constipation
  • Dry mouth
  • Blurred vision
  • Dizziness
  • Drowsiness
  • Problems with memory
  • Sleep problems

Triplex DM Syrup Interaction

When certain medications are taken together such as blood pressure medication and an antidepressant with Triplex DM drug interactions could occur that may affect the efficacy of the medicines resulting in serious side effects.

Overdose symptoms may include:

  • Dilated pupils
  • Dry mouth
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
