Trital DM Syrup

Generic Name:chlorpheniramine, dextromethorphan, and phenylephrine

Trital DM is an antihistamine which helps to reduce the natural chemical histamine present in the human body. Histamine is used to produce symptoms of sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and runny nose.

Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant.

Phenylephrine is a decongestant which helps to shrink blood vessels in the nasal passages resulting in dilated blood vessels which can cause nasal congestion or stuffy nose.

Trital DM is used to treat seasonal allergy, such as sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and runny nose.

How To use Trital DM Syrup

Trital DM may be used as follows:

  • Use Trital DM exactly as directed on the label, or as it has been prescribed by your doctor.
  • Never use Trital DM in larger amounts, or for a longer duration than recommended.
  • You should ask a doctor before giving a cough or cold medicine to a child as death can occur from the misuse of Trital DM in very young children.
  • Always take Trital DM with a full glass of water. Stir the mixture of Trital DM and drink all of it right away.
  • You must make it a point to measure the liquid form of Trital DM with a special dose-measuring spoon or cup, not a regular table spoon. If you do not have a dose-measuring device, get one.
  • Trital DM may lead to unusual results with allergy skin tests. Always tell any doctor who treats you that you are taking an antihistamine.

Cautions before Use Trital DM Syrup

People with the following symptoms should not use Trital DM:

  • You should ask a doctor before giving a cough or cold medicine to a child as death can occur from the misuse of Trital DM in very young children.
  • Never take any other medicine with Trital DM.
  • Always read the label of any other medicine you are using to see if it contains an antihistamine or decongestant.
  • Trital DM can result in side effects that may impair your thinking or reactions.
  • Never drive or do anything that requires you to be awake and alert.
  • Never drink alcohol when using Trital DM as it can increase some of the side effects of this medication.

Trital DM Syrup Side Effects

Stop using Trital DM and call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:

  • Fast or uneven heartbeat
  • Dizziness
  • Anxiety
  • Nervousness
  • Increased blood pressure
  • Confusion
  • Easy bruising or bleeding
  • Fever, chills
  • Body aches
  • Flu symptoms

Less serious side effects

  • Blurred vision
  • Dry mouth
  • Nausea
  • Stomach pain
  • Constipation
  • Loss of appetite
  • Stomach upset
  • Sleep problems
  • Skin rash or itching

Trital DM Syrup Interaction

When certain medications are taken together with Trital DM drug interactions could occur that may affect the efficacy of the medicines. Trital DM can interact with medicines such as blood pressure medication, an antidepressant and medication to treat irritable bowel syndrome resulting in serious side effects.

Trital DM Syrup Overdose Symptoms

Overdose symptoms may include feeling restless or nervous, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, warmth or tingly feeling, or seizure (convulsions).
