Tritan Tablets

Generic Name:chlorpheniramine, dextromethorphan, and phenylephrine

Tritan is an antihistamine which helps to reduce the natural chemical histamine present in the human body. Histamine is used to produce symptoms of sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and runny nose.

Phenylephrine is a decongestant which helps to shrink blood vessels in the nasal passages resulting in dilated blood vessels which can cause nasal congestion or stuffy nose.

Tritan is used to treat seasonal allergy, such as sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and runny nose.

How to use Tritan Tablets

Tritan may be used as follows:

  • Use Tritan exactly as directed on the label, or as it has been prescribed by your doctor.
  • Never use Tritan in larger amounts, or for a longer duration than recommended.
  • You should ask a doctor before giving a cough or cold medicine to a child as death can occur from the misuse of Tritan in very young children.
  • Never crush, chew, or break the tablet.
  • Always swallow the pill whole.
  • Always shake the oral suspension liquid medicine well before you measure the dose.
  • You must make it a point to measure the liquid form of Tritan with a special dose-measuring spoon or cup, not a regular table spoon. If you do not have a dose-measuring device, get one.
  • Tritan may lead to unusual results with allergy skin tests. Always tell any doctor who treats you that you are taking an antihistamine.

Cautions before Use Tritan Tablets

People with the following symptoms should not use Tritan:

  • You should ask a doctor before giving a cough or cold medicine to a child as death can occur from the misuse of Tritan in very young children.
  • Never take any other medicine with Tritan.
  • Always read the label of any other medicine you are using to see if it contains an antihistamine or decongestant.
  • Tritan can result in side effects that may impair your thinking or reactions.
  • Never drive or do anything that requires you to be awake and alert.
  • Never drink alcohol when using Tritan as it can increase some of the side effects of this medication.

Tritan Tablets Side effects

Stop using Tritan and call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:

  • Fast or uneven heartbeat
  • Dizziness
  • Anxiety
  • Nervousness
  • Increased blood pressure
  • Confusion
  • Easy bruising or bleeding
  • Fever, chills
  • Body aches
  • Flu symptoms

Less serious side effects

  • Blurred vision
  • Dry mouth
  • Nausea
  • Stomach pain
  • Constipation
  • Loss of appetite
  • Stomach upset
  • Sleep problems
  • Skin rash or itching

Tritan Tablets Interaction

When certain medications are taken together with Tritan drug interactions could occur that may affect the efficacy of the medicines. Tritan can interact with medicines such as blood pressure medication, an antidepressant and medication to treat irritable bowel syndrome resulting in serious side effects.

Tritan Tablets Overdose symptoms

Overdose symptoms may include feeling restless or nervous, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, warmth or tingly feeling, or seizure (convulsions).
