Antibiotics

Antibiotics are those medicines which kills bacteria and bacterial infections and diseases. Antibiotics drugs are also known as antibacterial, and they are drugs used to treat infections caused by bacteria. Bacteria are tiny organisms that can sometimes cause illness to humans and animals. The singular word for bacteria is bacterium. Such illnesses as tuberculosis, salmonella, syphilis and some forms of meningitis are caused by bacteria respiratory infections, skin infections and many others.

Reasons, Occurrence and Risk Factors

  • There are many reasons behind bacterial infection. The main cause is when a bacterium that already lives in or on your body goes out of balance.
  • The two most common bacteria that cause skin infections are Staphylococcus and Streptococcus but people may also get infected with less common bacteria. Such infections commonly occur in hospitals, while gardening or swimming. People with diabetes are at a higher risk of developing bacterial infections in hands and feet due to poor blood supply.
  • The respiratory infections are caused only by pathogenic bacteria or bacteria that are able to cause disease.
  • Common infections that may be caused by bacteria include staphylococcal wound infections, campylobacter (food poisoning), and chlamydia (a sexually transmitted disease).

  • Open sores and wounds
  • Close contact with an infected person
  • Contact with the faces of an infected person
  • Breathing in the exhaled droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes

Symptoms

Some major symptoms of bacterial infections are Tuberculosis Hay fever and others. There are many common symptoms of a bacterial infection or an upset stomach, swollen lymph nodes, headaches and others.

Signs and Tests

Some generic tests are followed to find out any bacterial infection:

  • Blood Test: Blood samples for testing can be taken either from a vein to find out any resulted infection from the attack of bacteria.
  • Urine Test: The urine can be tested very quickly using a strip of special paper, which is dipped in the urine just after urination. This will show if there are any abnormal particles in the urine such as sugar, protein, infection or blood.
  • Stool Test: Stool test detects the presence of pathogenic microorganisms such as yeast, parasites, and bacteria that contribute to chronic illness and system dysfunction

Preventions

Preventing infection depends on on a mixture of techniques, and when used properly to reduce the risks of any infections or diseases. Generally antibodies are something which fights from bacterial infection.

There are some generic rules by following people can get rid of Bacterial infections:

  • Make sure to drink, swim or bath in clean water.
  • Do not touch or pick infected animal such as dogs and cats.
  • Make sure to take precautions in an epidemic area.
  • Taking proper human vaccine and the preventative use of antibiotics can be considered to prevent these bacterial infections.

Treatment

The only treatment of usage of antibiotics in these bacterial infections is used. These are the only medicines that fight bacterial infections. If properly used, antibiotics can save from major problems and diseases. They either kill bacteria or keep them from reproducing. Penicillin’s are the big name in antibiotics.
