Theraflu Sinus

Generic Name:Diphenhydramine, Acetaminophen, and Phenylephrine

Theraflu Sinus is an antibiotic to treat several viral and bacterial infections resulting cough and cold and certain flu symptoms. This medicine is an expectorant and has the active ingredients of three medications of Diphenhydramine, Acetaminophen, and phenylephrine. Diphenhydramine is histamine which is commonly used for the purpose of reducing sneezing and watery eyes. This combination medication is used to temporarily treat cough, chest congestion, and stuffy nose symptoms caused by the common cold, flu, allergies, hay fever, or other breathing illnesses like sinusitis, bronchitis. Acetaminophen reduces fever and pain in the overall body. Phenylephrine is decongestant that affects a certain part of the cough and nasal passages which help relieve stuffy nose symptoms. It also relieves stuffy nose and ears by constricting blood vessels in the nasal air passages. This reduces the flow of fluid out of the blood vessels and into the tissues of the air passages. This product does not cure cough caused by asthma and smoking.

How to Use Theraflu Sinus Tablets

  • Take this liquid form by mouth with or without food. Follow the directions for dosing on the label, or take as directed by your doctor.
  • Drink plenty of fluids when you use this medication unless otherwise directed by your doctor. The fluid will help loosen the mucus in your lungs. This medication can be taken with food if stomach problem occurs.
  • If you are using the liquid form, use a medication measuring device to carefully measure the prescribed dose. Do not use a household spoon. If your liquid form is a suspension, shake the bottle well before each dose. To have the powder form of the medicine, dissolve one packet of the powder in at least 4 ounces of water. Stir this mixture and drink all of it right away.

Cautions before Use Theraflu Sinus Tablets

  • This drug may make you dizzy. Do not take alcohol with this medicine or drive, use machinery, or do any activity that requires alertness like handling heavy machinery or driving.
  • People who are suffering from diabetes should not take this medication.
  • Those patients who are suffering from liver diseases like cirrhosis should not take Theraflu Sinus.
  • People who have a history of kidney diseases should avoid taking Theraflu Sinus.
  • People who have a medical history of heart problems or high blood pressure should not take this medication.
  • People who are suffering from enlarge prostate should not take this medication.
  • Those who have a problem of epilepsy or seizures cannot take this medication.

Theraflu Sinus Tablets Side Effects

The side effects which may occur due to the usage of Theraflu Sinus are as follows:

  • Seizures
  • Nausea, Dizziness
  • Loss of Coordination
  • Nervousness, Confusion
  • Trouble in sleeping
  • Cold Pale and Clammy Skin
  • Trouble in breathing and uneven heartbeat

Interactions and Overdose of Theraflu Sinus Tablets

This product should not be used with the medications like MAO inhibitors such as furazolidone, isocarboxazid, linezolid, cancer medications, medicines to treat seizures, HIV/AIDS, blood pressure, and especially with broncholidators.Theraflu Sinus may not be used with other cough and cold medications, beta blockers, tricyclic antidepressants like amitriptyline, aspirin and bladder medications.

Symptoms of overdose of Theraflu Sinus may include fainting, nausea, vomiting and seizures. In this case patient should seek immediate medical attention because unattended patients could result into death.
