Trimox

Generic Name:amoxicillin

Trimox treats various infections which are caused by bacteria, such as ear infections, bladder infections, pneumonia, gonorrhea, and E. coli or salmonella infection.

Trimox is also used another antibiotic called clarithromycin (Biaxin) to treat stomach ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection. The two combinations are sometimes used with a stomach acid reducer called lansoprazole (Prevacid)

How to use Trimox Capsules

Trimox may be used as follows:

  • You should take Trimox exactly as it was prescribed for you.
  • Always take Trimox with or without food.
  • You should shake the liquid form of Trimox well just before you measure a dose. Always measure the liquid with a marked measuring spoon or medicine cup and not with a regular table spoon. If you do not have a dose-measuring device then get one.
  • The liquid form of Trimox can be placed directly on the tongue. It can also be mixed with water, milk, baby formula, fruit juice, or ginger ale. Drink the mixture right away. You should not save any of it for later use.
  • Swallow the chewable tablet.
  • You should always take Trimox for the entire length of time prescribed by your doctor. The symptoms may get better before the infection is completely treated.

Cautions before Use Trimox Capsules

Do not take Trimox if you have any of the following symptoms:

Never use Trimox if you are allergic to amoxicillin or to any other penicillin antibiotic, such as:

  • Ampicillin
  • Dicloxacillin
  • Oxacillin
  • Penicillin

and others

Before using Trimox, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs or if you have:

  • Asthma
  • Liver disease
  • Kidney disease
  • Any sort of bleeding or blood clotting disorder
  • Mononucleosis
  • Diarrhea caused by taking antibiotics or
  • Any type of allergy

Trimox Capsules Side Effects

While using Trimox it may cause the following side effects:

  • Fever
  • Sore throat
  • Headache
  • Nausea
  • Stomach pain
  • Low fever
  • Loss of appetite
  • Dark urine
  • Diarrhea
  • Fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms;
  • Weakness
  • Urinating less than usual
  • Agitation, confusion, unusual thoughts or behavior

Less critical side effects

  • Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain
  • Vaginal itching or discharge
  • Headache
  • Swollen, black, or “hairy” tongue
  • White patches inside the mouth or throat

Trimox Capsules Interaction

When certain medications are taken together with Trimox drug interactions could occur that may affect the efficacy of the medicines. It can even increase your risk for side effects. Trimox can interact with other medicines such as cimetidine and guanethidine resulting in side effects or altered effectiveness of Trimox .

Trimox Capsules Overdose symptoms

Symptoms of a Trimox overdose may include:

  • Confusion
  • Behavior changes
  • A severe skin rash
  • Urinating less than usual
