How to use Truxcillin VK Injections

Truxcillin VK may be used as follows:

  • You should take Truxcillin VK exactly as it was prescribed for you.
  • It may be possible that your kidney or liver function may also need to be tested.
  • Remember to maintain all scheduled visits to your doctor.
  • Never take this medicine in large amounts, or take it for a longer period than recommended by your doctor.
  • You may take Truxcillin VK with or without food
  • Always remember to shake the oral suspension (liquid) well before measuring a dose.
  • In order to get the correct dose, measure the liquid with a marked measuring spoon or cup and not with a regular table spoon. If you do not have a dose-measuring device, ask your pharmacist for one.
  • Remember to take this medicine for the entire length of time prescribed by your doctor.

Cautions before Use Truxcillin VK Injections

The following precautions must be taken care of when using Truxcillin VK

  • Never take this medication if you are allergic to penicillin V or to any other penicillin antibiotic, such as: FDA pregnancy category B.
  • This medication cannot be harmful to an unborn baby.
  • If you are pregnant tell your doctor during treatment as this medicine can make birth control pills less effective, which may result in pregnancy
  • Always let your doctor know if you are using birth control pills before taking penicillin as Penicillin V can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby.
  • Never use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.

Truxcillin VK Injections Side Effects

Stop using Truxcillin VK and call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat
  • Bloody or watery diarrhea
  • Fever, chills
  • Body aches
  • Flu symptoms
  • Urinating less than usual or not at all;
  • Severe skin rash, itching
  • Agitation
  • Seizures

Less serious side effects

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Stomach pain
  • Vaginal itching or discharge
  • Headache

Truxcillin VK Injections Interaction

When certain medications are taken together with Truxcillin VK drug interactions could occur that may affect the efficacy of the medicines. It can even increase your risk for side effects. Truxcillin VK can interact with other medicines such as methotrexate (Rheumatrex, Trexall) and probenecid (Benemid) resulting in side effects or altered effectiveness of Trospium.

Truxcillin VK Injections Overdose Symptoms

Overdose symptoms may include confusion, behavior changes, a severe skin rash, urinating less than usual, or seizure (black-out or convulsions).
