Zebeta
Generic Name: Bisoprolol fumarate
Zebeta is often prescribed for the treatment of high blood pressure. As a beta blocker, it works to decrease heart rate and both systolic and diastolic blood pressure by blocking a specific type of beta receptor in the body. This medication comes in tablet form and is usually taken once a day.
Zebeta has the active ingredient and the generic name of bisoprolol fumarate which is a prescription medication approved to treat high blood pressure medically known as hypertension.
It can be used alone or in combination with other high blood pressure medications. High blood pressure in adults can be managed by taking Zebeta. As a beta blocker, the medication has been shown to significantly lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Occasionally, healthcare providers may prescribe it for treating other conditions. Some common Zebeta uses include the treatment of arrhythmias, chest pain, and anxiety.
How to use Zebeta Tablets
- Zebeta comes in tablet form. It is usually taken by mouth once a day.
- You can take you Zebeta dosage with a meal or on an empty stomach.
- For the medication to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed. Zebeta will not work if you stop taking it.
- In general, treatment should not be stopped suddenly, as serious problems (including heart attacks) may result.
Cautions before Use Zebeta Tablets
- Zebeta can worsen heart failure in some situations.
- Zebeta can worsen breathing problems, such as asthma or COPD.
- If you will be having surgery, make sure your surgeon and anesthesiologist know you take Zebeta, as it may affect the choice of medications used during the surgery.
- Zebeta can sometime act some of the symptoms of low blood sugar medically known as hypoglycemia, particularly the "racing heart" feeling. This can cause serious problems for people with diabetes.
- If you have kidney or liver disease then you should not take this medication.
- If you have an anaphylactic allergy or the type of allergic reaction that affects the entire body and often interferes with breathing, then you should not take this drug as Zebeta may make you more sensitive to the allergen and may make the usual treatments.
Zebeta Tablets Side Effects
The side effects which may arise due to the usage of Zebeta are as follows:
- Joint pain
- Decreased sensation such as a decreased sense of touch
- Insomnia
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Sinus infection or irritation
- General weakness
- Runny or stuffy nose
- Dizziness
- Diarrhea
- Lightheadedness or fainting, which can be a sign of dangerously low blood pressure or hypotension
- A slow heart rate or bradycardia
- Chest pain
- Worsening of asthma
- Depression
- Signs of heart failure
Zebeta Tablets Interactions and Overdose
If certain medications are combined with Zebeta, drug interactions may occur that could lead to dangerously low blood pressure, extremely slow heart rate, heart failure, or other potentially serious problems. Some of the medications that can interact with Zebeta include calcium channel blockers, no steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, clonidine, and alpha blockers.
Zebeta overdose symptoms may include dizziness and breathing problems and in these situation then the patient should get immediate medical support.
