Therevac SB is a prescribed medication used commonly among constipated patients. This medication is used to treat occasional constipation. This medicine is a stool softener. Some medications and conditions can make constipation more likely. Stool softeners such as docusate are often the first method used for preventing and treating this type of constipation. Docusate is often used when straining to have a bowel movement should be avoided such as in the situation after a heart attack or surgery).It has the active ingredient of Docusate which is a stool softener. It works by increasing the amount of water the stool absorbs in the gut, making the stool softer and easier to pass. Therevac SB s used to treat or prevent constipation, and to reduce pain or rectal damage caused by hard stools or by straining during bowel movements.

How to Use Therevac SB Tablets

  • Take this medication by mouth, usually at bedtime with a full glass of water or juice, or as directed by your doctor. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy.
  • Decrease your dose or stop taking this medication if you develop diarrhea. If you are using the liquid form of this medication, measure the dose carefully using a special measuring device/spoon.
  • Do not use a household spoon because you may not get the correct dose. If you are using the drops, measure the medication with the dropper provided, or uses a dose-measuring spoon or device to make sure you have the correct dose.
  • Mix the syrup, liquid or drops in 4 to 8 ounces of fruit juice, milk or infant formula to prevent throat irritation and mask a bitter taste. Use this medication only when needed. Do not use this product for more than 1 week unless directed by your doctor

  • People who have any abdominal related ailments like severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, sudden change in bowel habits over the previous 2 weeks are suggested to not to take this medication without doctor’s consent.
  • If you are on a low-salt diet then you should not take this medicine.
  • Avoid using the bathroom just after using docusate enema.

The side effects which may arise due to the usage of Therevac SB are as follows:

  • Rectal bleeding or irritation;
  • Numbness or a rash around your rectum
  • Severe diarrhea or stomach cramps
  • Continued constipation
  • Mild Nausea
  • Mild Diarrhea

Interactions and Overdose of Therevac SB Tablets

Therevac SB may interact with any prescription or non-prescription medications, any herbal preparations or any dietary supplements. Thus you must talk to your doctor about all the medications you are taking.

Overdose symptoms of Therevac SB may include nausea, vomiting or stomach pain. In these conditions people should contact their healthcare provider immediately.
