Tamiflu

Tamiflu is used for the treatment and prevention of influenza (the virus that causes the flu). The drug attacks the flu virus inside the body, thus preventing the virus from spreading. Common side effects of this medication include nausea and vomiting. It is important to note that Tamiflu is not a flu vaccine, nor should it be used in place of a yearly flu vaccination. Tamiflu has the active ingredient oseltamivir phosphate which is a prescribed medication used for the prevention or treatment of flu. It is licensed for adults and children 1 year of age and older. The medication is not a flu vaccine, nor should it be used in place of a yearly flu vaccination. It is manufactured by Roche Pharmaceuticals. Tamiflu has not been shown to be effective against other types of viruses, including viruses that cause the stomach flu or common cold. It is actively being studied to learn how effective it is at treating bird flu.

How to Use Tamiflu Tablets

  • Tamiflu comes in either liquid or capsule form. It is taken once or twice a day, depending on your healthcare provider’s instructions. You may take it with or without food. If it upsets your stomach, take it with food.
  • It should be taken at the same time each day to maintain an even level of the medication in your blood.
  • Shake Tamiflu suspension (liquid) thoroughly before each dose.
  • Make sure that you complete your entire prescription of the medication, even if you start feeling better before it’s finished. This will ensure that the infection is completely treated.

Cautions before Use Tamiflu Tablets

  • Tamiflu, on rare occasions, has been reported to cause allergic reactions or serious skin reactions. If you notice an unexplained rash while taking Tamiflu.
  • amiflu precautions and warnings also extend to any medications you are taking, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, antacids, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
  • People who have liver diseases should not take Tamiflu.

  • Patients who are suffering from lung disorders should not take Tamiflu or may discuss its effects with their healthcare provider.

Tamiflu Tablets Side Effects

The side effects which may occur due to the usage of Tamiflu are as follows:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Abdominal pain
  • Diarrhea
  • Bronchitis
  • Abdominal pain
  • Ear problems, such as middle ear infection
  • Pink eye or conjunctivitis
  • Angina
  • Anemia

Tamiflu Tablets Reactions and Overdose

There is no drug reactions with Tamiflu has been reported yet.
In case of overdoses with Tamiflu patient should seek medical attention.
