T/Gel Obsolete is a prescribed medication used for the treatment for hair scalp problems. This medication is used on the hair scalp to treat dandruff and other scaly, itchy skin conditions such as psoriasis or seborrheic dermatitis. It has the active ingredient of Coal tar belongs to a class of drugs known as keratoplastics. It works by causing the skin to shed dead cells from its top layer and slow down the growth of skin cells. This effect decreases scaling and dryness. Coal tar can also decrease itchiness from these skin conditions. T/Gel Obsolete shampoo is used to treat scaly, itchy skin conditions affecting the scalp, such as psoriasis, eczema, seborrhoeic dermatitis or dandruff. T/Gel Obsolete has mild antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effects, and relieves itching. It is also absorbed into the skin cells and is thought to inhibit DNA replication in these cells. This slows down cell division and stops the cells from multiplying excessively. In turn, this reduces thickening and scaling of the skin. This medicine can also be prescribed as T/Gel Conditioner.

How to Use T/Gel Obsolete Shampoo

  • The shampoo should be massaged into wet hair and the scalp for several minutes until a rich lather is produced. Rinse thoroughly then repeat the procedure.
  • For dandruff, you should use the shampoo once or twice a week as necessary, or as directed by your doctor.
  • To avoid irritation, do not let this medication come into contact with your eyes, nose, mouth, groin, or rectum. If you do get the medication in those areas, flush the area with cool water for 15 minutes. Wash hands after use.

Cautions before Use T/Gel Obsolete Shampoo

  • Do not use T/Gel Obsolete to treat the skin of your groin or rectal area.
  • Avoid exposure to sunlight or artificial UV rays like sunlamps or tanning beds. T/Gel Obsolete can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight and sunburn may result into severe reactions.
  • T/Gel Obsolete should not be used on infected, inflamed or broken areas of skin
  • If any people have an allergy or sensitivity to Coal tar they should not use T/Gel Obsolete.

T/Gel Obsolete Shampoo Side Effects

The side effects which may arise due to the usage of T/Gel Obsolete are as follows:

  • Skin irritation
  • Increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight

Interactions and Overdose of T/Gel Obsolete Shampoo

This medicine is not known to affect other medicines but do not use T/Gel Obsolete together with other psoriasis medications. Make sure to inform your healthcare provider about all your prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, minerals, herbal products, and drugs prescribed by other doctors.

Symptoms of a T/Gel Obsolete overdose are not known. But T/Gel Obsolete shampoo could be harmful if swallowed. Seek emergency medical attention if any overdose symptoms persist.
