Generic Name: Carisprodol

Vanadom is a prescribed medication categorized as a muscle relaxant. As a muscle relaxant, it can help relieve the discomfort caused by muscle spasms. Vanadom can be used in Muscle spasms can which cause pain, tenderness, and stiffness. Sometimes muscles spasms in the neck can cause headaches. Muscle spasms are a frequent cause of back pain. This medication is not approved to treat muscle spasms in children younger than 16 years old, as it has not been thoroughly studied in younger children. Many healthcare providers recommend Vanadom for something other conditions like in the treatment for fibromyalgia pain. It is a muscle relaxant that should only be used temporarily, for up to two or three weeks. It is known that it works mostly in the brain stem and spinal cord and not directly on the muscles. Vanadom comes in tablet form and usually taken three times daily and at bedtime. Even though Vanadom is not a controlled substance, it has the potential to be abused and should be used cautiously in people with a tendency toward alcohol or drug abuse. Vanadom has the generic name of carisoprodol in it.

How to Use Vanadom Tablets

  • Take this medication exactly as it was prescribed for you. Do not take the medication in larger amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor.
  • Follow the directions on your prescription label.
  • Take each dose with a full glass of water.
  • Store Vanadom at room temperature away from moisture and heat

Cautions before Use Vanadom Tablets

  • Those patients who have a medical history of seizures or suffering from epilepsy are advised to not to take this medicine.
  • People suffering from liver disease should not take Vanadom.
  • Patients suffering from kidney problems or had any dialysis recently are restricted from using this medicine.

Vanadom Tablets Side Effects

The side effects which may arise due to the usage of Vanadom are as follows:

  • Paralysis or loss of feeling
  • Extreme weakness or lack of coordination
  • Feeling light-headed, fainting
  • Fast heartbeat
  • Seizure convulsions
  • Vision loss
  • Agitation, confusion.

Vanadom Tablets Interactions and Overdose

The risk for developing side effects may be increased if the patient combines alcohol with Vanadom. Interactions may also occur if the person takes Vanadom together with medications such as barbiturates, narcotics, sleep medicines, and benzodiazepines. Other Vanadom drug interactions may also affect the level of Vanadom in the blood, which may or may not change the effectiveness of the medication. The liver metabolizes Vanadom into meprobamate, a different drug with anti-anxiety properties.

Vanadom overdose symptoms could include slow or shallow breathing, uncontrollable muscle contractions, low blood pressure, and unclear vision. It is important to report an overdose effect immediately, as it could also result in coma or death.
