Celebrex

Celebrex, a medication that belongs to a class of drugs called no steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, is frequently used for acute pain, arthritis, and painful menstrual periods. It works by blocking the COX-2 enzyme, which plays a role in pain and inflammation. The medication comes in capsule form and is available in several strengths. Celebrex has the active ingredient of celecoxib which is a prescribed medication that has been licensed to treat several conditions related to pain and inflammation. It is part of a class of drugs called no steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or NSAIDs for short. Celebrex is manufactured by Pfizer Inc.

How to Use Celebrex Drugs

  • The medication comes in capsule form. It is taken once or twice a day, depending on the condition being treated. Celebrex typically is taken with a glass of water, with or without food.
  • People taking 400 mg of Celebrex should take it with food to avoid stomach upset.
  • You can take this drug in the morning or at night. However, you should take it at the same time each day to maintain an even level in your blood.
  • Do not break, chew, or crush the capsules. If necessary, you may open the capsules and sprinkle the contents on a spoonful of cool or room temperature applesauce. This should be swallowed immediately and followed with water (although the medication is stable in the applesauce for up to six hours under refrigeration.

Cautions before Use Celebrex Drugs

  • Celebrex, have been linked to cardiovascular events, such as heart attack or stroke, which can result in loss of life. People who have cardiovascular or cardiovascular risk factors appear to be at greater risk.
  • Celebrex, may cause high blood pressure or make it worse in people who already have it. Therefore, Celebrex should be used with caution in people with known high blood pressure.
  • Celebrex may cause congestive heart failure or fluid retention.
  • Celebrex have been reported to cause problems in the stomach and intestines, including bleeding (known as gastrointestinal bleeding), stomach ulcers, or holes in the stomach or intestines (called perforations).
  • Kidney damage can occur in people taking Celebrex. This occurrence is more common in the elderly, as well as in people with kidney disease, heart failure, liver problems, and those taking a diuretic or ACE inhibitor.
  • Celebrex, have been reported to cause allergic reactions.
  • Celebrex have been known to cause an increase in liver enzymes. If elevated liver enzymes do not decrease or become worse, you should stop taking Celebrex.

The side effects which may occur due to the usage of Celebrex are as follows:

  • Indigestion or heartburn
  • Upper respiratory tract infection
  • Upper abdominal
  • Nausea
  • Cough
  • Gas
  • Accidental injury
  • Dizziness
  • Runny or irritated nose

Celebrex Drugs Reactions and Overdose

Aspirin, fluconazole, and lithium are just a few of the drugs that can cause interactions with Celebrex. These interactions can cause several problems, such as increased risk of stomach ulcers, increased levels of medication in the blood, and decreased effectiveness of some medications. If you are experiencing drug interactions, your doctor may adjust the dosage of your medicines and monitor your situation more closely.
