Have Pizza with Lesser Calories!

Eating interesting dishes will keep you excited about using low calorie recipes. While, keeping all the fats off you can still make some wholesome yet mouthwatering recipes to keep you slimmer. More vegetables are use and when carbs are used the grains are whole. The dieter is encouraged to eat smaller helpings and more frequently; up to six times daily.

Wholesome Pita Pizza


  • 1 whole-wheat pita pocket
  • 1/8 cup bottled pizza sauce
  • 1/3 cup shredded, part-skim mozzarella
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped veggies of your choice (broccoli florets, green onions, tomato, sliced mushrooms, etc.)


Lay pita round on a baking sheet and spread pizza sauce over the top. Sprinkle the cheese evenly over the top of the pizza sauce and top with a combination of veggies.

Broil in toaster oven (or microwave on HIGH for about a minute) until cheese is melted and bubbly.

Pesto, Mozzarella, and Tomato Tortilla Pizza


  • 1 multigrain flour tortilla
  • 2 teaspoons prepared pesto (available in the freezer and refrigerated sections of most supermarkets)
  • 1 1/2 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, thinly sliced, or 1/3 cup shredded part-skim low moisture mozzarella
  • 1/2 medium vine-ripened tomato, thinly sliced


Spread pesto over the top of one flour tortilla. Arrange thinly sliced mozzarella over the top of the pesto, and sprinkle Italian herbs or any salt-free seasoning of your choice over cheese. Then place tomato slices evenly on top.

Place in nonstick frying pan and heat over medium-high heat for about 2 minutes, until tortilla is nicely browned on underside and the cheese is melted and bubbly on top. Cut into 4 wedges.

Chicken Barbeque Pizza


  • 4 whole-wheat bagels, cut in half
  • 2 cups shredded boneless chicken breast, skinless
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite)
  • 3 tablespoons chopped red onions
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro, lightly packed
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded part skim mozzarella
  • 1 cup canned Italian Style diced tomatoes


  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a jelly-roll pan with foil if desired. Place bagel halves on the lined pan.
  • In medium bowl combine the chicken, barbeque sauce, red onions, fresh cilantro, tossing to blend well.
  • Top each bagel half with 1/4 cup of the chicken mixture, and then sprinkle 3 tablespoons cheese over each half. Spoon 1/8 cup of the diced canned tomatoes on top of each bagel half.
  • Bake the center of oven for 10-12 minutes or until cheese is melted. Cut each bagel half in half or serve as is or with tomato ketchup.
