Clobex is a skin care treatment used for the skin ailments formed on the hair scalp known as scalp psoriasis. Clobex is used in adults to treat moderate to severe scalp psoriasis. Clobex reduces the swelling, itching and redness that can occur with this condition. This medication is a very strong (super-high-potency) corticosteroid. This medication is not recommended for use in children or those less than 18 years of age due to an increased risk of side effects. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for details.

Clobex is also available in a in other forms of topical creams, shampoos and lotions. However, Clobex actually is available in the form of shampoo which as to be applied according to the directions or according to the healthcare provider and only on scalp. Clobex has the generic name and has the active ingredient of Clobetasol which is used to treat skin irritations and Eczema.

How to Use Clobex Shampoo

While using the shampoo try to avoid contact with the eyes, nose and mouth. Do not tie bandages, wrap or cover the affected area such as avoid using shower caps or bathing caps.

Apply a thin film of cream to your dry scalp or skin by squeezing the bottle or tube directly over the affected area, once daily, or as directed by your doctor. Gently rub the medicine into the affected area, leaving it on your scalp for 15 minutes.

Wash your hands immediately after applying the medication. Also, wash any other body parts like hands, face, neck, shoulders that may have come in contact with the medicine.

Do not apply this medication to your face, neck, groin, or underarms. Avoid using this medication close to the eyes or lips.

Cautions before Using Clobex Shampoo

  • Before using Clobex, make sure to ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to any other steroids such as hydrocortisone, dexamethasone or in case if you have any other allergies.
  • Stay away from this skin care product if you are having other skin/scalp conditions such as rosacea, or perioral dermatitis.
  • If your immune system is weak then do not use Clobex
  • People who are having diabetes should not use Clobex
  • Clobex may slow down the growth rate of children and teenagers.
  • Clobex can suppress the immune system, perhaps leading to infections or other problems.
  • Clobex is considered as an unsafe medication to be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

There are some side effects which may occur with the usage of Clobex and they are as follows:

Clobex Shampoo Reactions and Overdose

Clobex can have reactions with any herbal, prescribed or non-prescribed medicines and especially it may react with oral corticosteroids such as prednisone, drugs that suppress the immune system i.e. cyclosporine.

Overdose symptoms can occur if swallowed, it may cause poisonous effect, and the patient must seek doctor.
