Lanacane

Lanacane is a local anesthetic drug used as a numbing medication. It works by jamming the nerve signals in your body. Lanacane skin cream has the active ingredient of Benzocaine in it which is a namely drug used for numbing the body or any affected area. Lanacane is a skin cream, which is used to reduce pain or discomfort caused by minor skin irritations, sore throat, sunburn, teething pain, vaginal or rectal irritation, ingrown toenails, hemorrhoids, and many other sources of minor pain on a surface of the body. Lanacane is also used to frozen the skin or surfaces inside the mouth, nose, throat, vagina, or rectum to lessen the pain of inserting a medical instrument such as a tube or speculum. If you are taking treatment a sore throat, call your doctor if the pain is severe or lasts longer than 2 days, especially if you also develop a fever, headache, skin rash, swelling, nausea, vomiting, cough, or breathing problems.

How to Use Lanacane Cream

The healthcare providers suggest using smallest amount of Lanacane skin cream that is needed to numb the skin or relieve pain. It should not be used in large amounts of as it is a topical medicine, or cover treated skin areas with a bandage or plastic wrap without medical advice as it may cause skin poisoning.

Cautions before Using Lanacane Cream

There are some cautions, which should be taken with Lanacane skin cream, are as follows:

  • If the patient is having a history of blood cell, disorder called methemoglobinemia, which is a hemoglobin disorder, found in blood.
  • If you are having asthma or bronchitis,
  • The person who have emphysema, or other breathing disorder
  • People with heart disease
  • People having any genetic enzyme deficiency
  • If you are having any open wounds

Lanacane Cream Side effects

It is possible to get side affects with Lanacane and take the consultation of the doctor. The symptoms of side effects may occur as

  • Hives
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Swelling of your face, lips, tongue and throat may occur
  • skin tenderness or redness
  • Severe burning, stinging, or sensitivity where the medicine is applied
  • warmth, or redness in the affected area
  • Oozing, blistering, or any signs of infection
  • Headache
  • weakness or dizziness
  • breathing problems
  • fast heart rate, and gray or bluish colored skin
  • dry white flakes may occur where the medicine was applied

Lanacane Cream Reactions and Overdose

Lanacane skin cream is meant for topical use only on the surface of your body, or just inside the vagina or rectum as per requirements. Keep away from getting this medication in your eyes. Stay away from swallowing the gel, liquid, or ointment while applying it to your gums or the inside of your mouth as it may have severe reactions. The throat spray or oral lozenge may be swallowed gradually during use. Do not apply other medications to the same affected areas you treat with Lanacane skin cream unless your healthcare provider advises you to do it. It is also suggested that do not use extra medicine to make up the missed dose as it may cause severe side effects in your body. Avoid eating within 1 hour after using Lanacane on your gums or inside your mouth.

Overdose symptoms may include uneven heartbeats, seizure or convulsions, coma, slowed breathing, or respiratory failure that may feel like stopped breath.
