Pramosone

Pramosone skin cream is an anesthetic medicine used on the skin to relieve minor pain, itching, and discomfort. The active ingredient of Hydrocortisone is a corticosteroid that reduces redness, swelling, and itching. This combination medication of Pramoxine and Hydrocortisone is used to treat certain skin conditions such as eczema, rash, scrapes, insect bites, or minor burns. This combination product for the skin is available in different strengths and forms such as creams, ointments, and lotions.

The type of medication used depends on the location of your condition and the type of skin problem being treated. Creams are the most frequently used form. Lotions may be better suited to hairy areas. Pramosone skin cream may be used for dry areas when a stronger effect or skin protection is desired. Your dose may need to be gradually decreased according to the condition of the skin. This medicine also known as a brand name of Proctofoam HC.

How to use Pramosone Cream

Shake the bottle well before each dose. Before applying the medication, clean the affected area with mild soap and water, rinse well, and pat dry. Gently rub a small amount of the medication into the affected area and surrounding skin in a thin layer, usually 3-4 times a day or as directed by your doctor. The application of the medication applied and for the time it should be used depends on your condition and response to the treatment. Wash hands immediately after use unless the area being treated includes the hands. Avoid getting the product in your eyes, nose, ears, or mouth. If the medication gets in these areas, rinse immediately with clean water. Do not cover the area with waterproof bandages or plastic, apply heat, or use the product on large areas of the body unless directed to do so by your doctor. If used in the diaper area on an infant, do not use tight-fitting diapers or plastic pants.

Cautions before use Pramosone Cream

The cautions, which are to be followed, are mentioned under:

  • Before using this product, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to pramoxine or to hydrocortisone or if you have any other allergies.
  • Children may be more sensitive to the effects of too much corticosteroid medication so it is better to discuss with your doctor before taking into usage.
  • People with a medical history of liver disease
  • People with medical history of diabetes
  • People with a medical history of eye problems
  • People with a medical history of skin infections

Pramosone Cream Side effects

The side effects, which may arise due to the usage of Pramosone, are as follows:

  • Severe dizziness
  • Trouble in breathing
  • Swelling in face, throat and mouth
  • Headache
  • Fever
  • Skin irritation, redness
  • Rashes
  • Sore throat

Pramosone Cream Reactions and Overdose

Before using this medication, ask your doctor or pharmacist about all prescribed and nonprescribed or herbal products you are using as it may cause reactions with them. It is better not to use any kind of topical corticosteroids or immune suppressant’s such as, prednisone.

Pramosone skin cream may be harmful if swallowed. If overdose or swallowing is suspected the patient should be taken to the medical center immediately.
