Sulfacet R

Sulfacet R is a prescribed medication which is used to treat acne vulgaris. Sulfacet R is used to treat the inflammation and skin eruptions that are associated with acne and rosacea. Sulfacet R can also be used to treat the dry, scaly skin known as seborrheic dermatitis. This product contains antibacterial and drying agents that promote shedding of the skin's top layer (keratolysis). Sulfacet R has the combination of two medications of Sulfacetamide sodium and Sulfur.. It decreases the redness and number of sores but may not be a cure. It is also used to treat other types of acne and dermatitis.

This particular combination of the drugs is commonly used for the topical treatment of acne. Healthcare specialists generally prescribe this medicine in several other labels and names which are labeled as Sulfatol, Sulzee Wash, Sumaxin, Suphera, Topisulf, Zencia Wash, Zetacet.

How to Use Sulfacet R Lotion

  • Apply a thin film of Sulfacet R gel to the affected areas 1 to 3 times daily, or as directed by your doctor.
  • This medication is for use only on the skin.
  • Apply a thin layer of medication to the affected area 1 to 3 times daily, or use as directed by your doctor.
  • Sulfacet R cleanser is used to treat acne rosacea in a chronic condition in which the facial skin is inflamed and sores develop
  • Avoid getting any of this medication in the eyes or inside the nose or mouth. If it does get in your eyes, wash them immediately with plenty of water.

Cautions before Use Sulfacet R Lotion

  • You should not use Sulfacet R if you are allergic to sulfa drugs.
  • People who are suffering from kidney diseases should not use any Sulfacet R product.
  • If your skin becomes excessively red or irritated then you should not use Sulfacet R.
  • If you have eczema or a history of lupus then you should not use Sulfacet R.

Sulfacet R Lotion Side Effects

The side effects which may arise due to the usage of Sulfacet R are as follows:

  • Redness and irritation of the skin 
  • Cracked Skin
  • Rash
  • Weakness
  • Dark urine
  • Yellowing eyes or skin
  • persistent sore throat
  • Fever
  • Easy bruising or bleeding
  • Trouble in breathing

Sulfacet R Lotion Interactions and Overdose

No drug interactions have been reported with Sulfacet R. But if you are taking Sulfacet R with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Sulfacet R with other drugs.

Sulfacet R has not been reported to have any kind of overdose but in case of any overdose happens the patient should be taken under prompt medical support.
