Tronolane Suppositories

Generic Name:pramoxine (topical)/ zinc oxide (topical)

Tronolane is a topical anesthetic which is applied to the skin. It works by interfering with pain signals which are sent from the nerves to the brain.

Tronolane is used to treat pain or itching which is caused due to insect bites, minor burns or scrapes, hemorrhoids, and minor skin rash, dryness, or itching.

This medicine is also used to treat chapped lips, and pain or skin irritation which have been caused by coming into contact with poison ivy, poison oak, or poison sumac.

How to Use Tronolane Suppositories Cream

Tronolane may be used as follows:

  • Always use Tronolane exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor.
  • Apply the medicine to the affected area 3 to 5 times daily.
  • This medicine in the form of cream, lotion, foam, or medicated wipe may be used on the rectum to treat hemorrhoid pain and itching.
  • Remember to wash your hands before and after applying Tronolane.
  • Remember to wash the affected skin area with warm water and a mild soap. Rinse and dry the area thoroughly.
  • If you are using Tronolane medicated wipe to treat the hemorrhoid area, apply the medication by patting the wipe onto the rectal area. Avoid harsh rubbing. The wipe can be folded and left in place for up to 15 minutes.
  • Remember that each Tronolane medicated wipe is for one use only. Throw the wipe away after using.
  • Remember to shake Tronolane rectal foam before each use. Spray only a small amount of the medicine onto a clean tissue and apply it to your rectum.
  • Always use Tronolane only on the outside of the area.

The following precautions must be taken care of when using Tronolane

  • Do not use it in larger amounts or for longer than recommended.
  • Never insert this medication or the medicated wipe into your rectum.
  • Try not to get this medication in your eyes or your nose. If it does get into these areas, rinse with water right away.
  • Never use Tronolane on deep skin wounds, blistered skin, severe burns, or large skin areas.

Tronolane Suppositories Cream Side Effects

Stop using Tronolane and call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:

  • Hives
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
  • Severe pain, burning, or stinging where the medicine is applied.

Tronolane Suppositories Cream Interaction

When certain medications are taken together with Tronolane drug interactions could occur that may affect the efficacy of the medicines. It can even increase your risk for side effects. Tronolane can interact with other medicines such as vitamins, minerals, herbal products, and drugs prescribed by other doctors resulting in side effects or altered effectiveness of Tronolane.

Tronolane Suppositories Cream Overdose symptoms

An overdose of pramoxine applied to the skin or rectum is unlikely to occur.
