Generic Name:Tretinoin Topical

Vitinoin is a skin care treatment drug used for treating acne among the patients. It has the composition of Tretinoin, which is form of Vitamin A and can be used as a topical skin cream to be applied on the skin. Vitinoin skin cream is used in the treatment of mild to moderate acne and on skin that has been damaged by excessive exposure to the sun. Vitinoin skin cream irritates the skin and causes the cells of the skin to grow or divide and die more rapidly, increasing the turnover of cells.

By a similar mechanism, Vitinoin skin cream can diminish some wrinkles, areas of darkened skin, and rough areas of skin, all of which occur in sun-damaged skin. In patients with sun-damaged skin, improvements in the skin usually are seen within the first 3 to 4 weeks of treatment. Brown spots start on to fade after six to eight weeks. Wrinkles reduce or disappear after three to six months. Following application to the skin, a minimal amount of Vitinoin skin cream is absorbed into the body. Since 1971the, FDA has also approved topical use of Vitinoin.

How to Use Vitinoin Skin Care Cream

  • Before applying Vitinoin skin cream, the affected area of the skin should be cleansed with soap and dried.
  • Patients should then wait until 20 to 30 minutes before applying Vitinoin skin cream, followed by gently rubbing it into the affected area. The hands should be washed immediately after application.
  • Vitinoin skin cream is usually applied once daily, in the evening. It should be noticed that after applying Vitinoin skin cream the area should not be washed with water.
  • In addition to it should also be taken care that the skin cream should be applied firm with lesser amount as the thick application may cause allergies and pilling as Vitinoin skin cream comes in the form of gel.

Cautions before Use Vitinoin Skin Care Cream

  • The patients are suggested to apply sunscreen with SPF 15 before going out when they are using Vitinoin skin cream on a regular basis as it may cause sun sensitivity.
  • Avoid applying Vitinoin skin cream on face, eyes, nose and lips.
  • There are no adequate studies of Vitinoin skin cream use during pregnancy. Physicians must consider the potential risks and benefits before prescribing Vitinoin skin cream during pregnancy.
  • It has found in studies that oral usage of Vitinoin is not recommended during lactation, it probably is cautious and should be avoided nursing during treatment with Vitinoin

Vitinoin Skin Care Cream Side Effects

The side effects which may arise due to the use of Vitinoin are as follows:

  • Local inflammation at the affected area
  • Difficulty in breathing
  • Swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat
  • Burning
  • Discolored skin
  • Itching
  • Redness
  • Stinging
  • Allergic reactions

Reactions and Overdose of Vitinoin Skin Care Cream

Reactions may happen if Vitinoin skin cream is used with, topical acne medications for example, salicylic acid, use of abrasive soaps or cleansers, use of skin astringents, medications like , tetracycline or Achromycin and Sunlight ( UV Rays).

This medicine could be dangerous if swallowed but in case of overdose happens the patient must see the doctor immediately.
