Studies may show that diet pills are safe, but those studies will test products only on healthy overweight people. Diet pills are never tested on people with a thyroid disorder. To stop the weight gain and finally lose the weight, you will need to educate yourself on your condition. Your body is not reacting the same way to calorie intake as for other people. The thyroid gland and thyroid hormones affects your metabolism directly. If your hormones are unbalanced you need to play by different rules.

Avoid refined foods, saturated fats, sugars, and white flour products. If the thyroid problem is severe it is then good to avoid brussels sprouts, cabbage, broccoli, kale, mustard greens, peaches and pears as they have anti-thyroid substances and may suppress the thyroid function. As this rule could tally with the regime followed with diet pills too. Patients are suggested that they should follow a strict and healthy lifestyle which indicates in food intake and exercises.
