Kapidex is a prescription drug commonly used for the treatment of GERD and erosive esophagitis. It comes in capsule form and is typically taken once a day. The medication works by stopping the production of acid in the stomach. Kapidex has the active ingredient of dexlansoprazole which is a prescription medication approved to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and erosive esophagitis which is a severe form of GERD in which the lining of the esophagus becomes inflamed and ulcerated.

Kapidex is a medication that is licensed to treat heartburn associated with GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease). It can also be used to treat erosive esophagitis and to prevent it from coming back. Healthcare providers may also occasionally prescribe this medication for other medicinal uses. Common off-label uses of Kapidex include the treatment of ulcers, the prevention of ulcers due to NSAID medicines, and the treatment of various pathological hyper secretory conditions.

How to Use Kapidex Tablets

  • This medication comes in capsule form. It is taken by mouth once a day.
  • You can take Kapidex with food or on an empty stomach.
  • Swallow the capsules whole; do not chew or crush the capsules.
  • If absolutely necessary, the capsules may be opened and the contents sprinkled on a spoonful of applesauce. The applesauce should not be warm and should be eaten immediately without chewing.
  • Be sure to take this medication at the same time each day, to keep an even level of the medication in your blood.

Cautions before use Kapidex Tablets

  • People who are suffering from chronic liver diseases should not take Kapidex.
  • Kapidex can react with any kind of medicines which can be prescription or nonprescription.
  • Pregnant women should discuss with their healthcare providers before taking Kapidex into use as the medical studies have not been proved to find detailed report on pregnancy and its effects of this medicine.

The side effects which may arise due to the usage Kapidex are as follows:

  • A spinning sensation (vertigo)
  • Ringing of the ears (tinnitus)

  • Vaginal yeast infections
  • Sunburn
  • Arthritis

Kapidex Tablets Interactions and overdose

Many drugs can potentially interfere with Kapidex, such as warfarin, ketoconazole, and ampicillin. Drug interactions with Kapidex could decrease the absorption of these various medicines into the body, reducing their effectiveness. In order to minimize your risk of developing negative interactions, you should tell your healthcare provider about all other medications you are currently taking.

There are no sufficient result has been found in case of overdose effects of Kapidex, but in case of large doses patient should seek immediate medical help.
