Generic Name:Sodium Chloride

Thermoject is a prescribed medicine used commonly as saline. It has the active ingredient of Sodium Chloride. Sodium chloride is used to clean out an intravenous (IV) catheter, which helps prevent blockage and removes any medicine left in the catheter area after you have received an IV infusion. This medicine is generally used after any surgery or major operation. This solution is added to other IV solutions as a sodium chloride supplement for people with very low sodium and/or chloride levels in their blood. This product is a concentrated form of sodium chloride and must not be given by direct IV injection. It is used to can reduce some types of bacteria.

How to Use Thermoject Injections

  • Make sure that you go along all instructions for proper mixing and dilution with the correct IV fluids. If you have questions regarding the use of this product, consult your chemist.
  • This product must be diluted in an appropriate IV solution before it is given. Give this product by vein (IV) diluted in a compatible solution as directed by the doctor.
  • Before using the medication, check the solution container to make sure there are no leaks in it. Do not use the medication if it has changed colors or has particles in it. Call your doctor for a new prescription.
  • Call your doctor or tell your caregivers if your catheter, needle, or IV tubing becomes blocked or if the flush or IV medicine is not flowing normally.
  • The dosage is based on your age, weight, medical condition and response to therapy. This solution should be checked visually for particles or discoloration before use.
  • If either is present, do not use the liquid. Learn how to store and discard medical supplies safely. Consult your chemist.

Cautions before Use Thermoject Injections

  • People who are suffering from heart problems such as congestive heart failure are advised to not to take this medicine.
  • People who have lung problems such as pulmonary edema are suggested to not to take this medication.
  • Patient who have a medical history of kidney problems are advised to not to take this medication.
  • People who are suffering from liver problems such as cirrhosis are advised to not to take this medication.
  • Those patients who have low potassium levels in their blood are advised to avoid taking Thermoject.
  • Patients, who have high levels of sodium in their blood which is medically known as hypernatremia, cannot take this medication.
  • People who are suffering from swelling diseases medically known as edema are advised to not to take this medication.

Thermoject Injections Side Effects

The side effects which may arise due to the usage of Thermoject are as follows;

  • Severe irritation
  • Swelling
  • Warmth
  • Redness
  • Oozing
  • Pain

Interactions and Overdose of Thermoject Injections

Thermoject may react with corticosteroids such as prednisone, corticotropin. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Make sure to check all the medications with your healthcare provider before taking with this medication.
