Tropicacyl helps the muscles in the eye to become relaxed. This helps in the widening of the pupil so that it does not contract or narrow down when the doctor shines an examination light into your eye.

How to use Tropicacyl Eye Drops

Tropicacyl may be used as follows:

  • Use Tropicacyl exactly as it was prescribed for you.
  • The medicine is given in a clinic, hospital or a nursing home.
  • Remember to wash your hand before using the eye drops.
  • Remove the contact lenses before using the eye drops.
  • Tropicacyl is used only in a doctor’s office during an eye examination.

To apply the eye drops:

In order to apply the medicine you should tilt your head back slightly and pull down your lower eyelid. You should hold the dropper above the eye with the dropper tip down. Always look up and away from the dropper when squeezing out a drop. After that close your eyes. You should gently press your finger to the inside corner of the eye for about 1 minute in order to prevent the liquid from draining into your tear duct.

Cautions before Use Tropicacyl Eye Drops

The following precautions must be taken care of when using Tropicacyl:

  • This medicine may cause blurred vision, or make your eyes very sensitive to light.
  • Never drive or operate machinery, or do anything else that requires you to see clearly as these effects can last for up to 24 hours.
  • Remember to protect your eyes if you go outdoors into sunlight after using the medicine.
  • Never use other eye drops or ointment until the effects of Tropicacyl have worn off.

Tropicacyl Eye Drops Side Effects

While using Tropicacyl it may cause the following side effects:

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
  • Fast or uneven heart rate
  • Stomach bloating or discomfort

Less serious side effects

  • Blurred vision
  • Eye sensitivity to sunlight
  • Stinging and burning or
  • Swelling of the eyelids

Tropicacyl Eye Drops Interaction

When certain medications are taken together with Tropicacyl, drug interactions can occur that may affect the effectiveness of the medicines or increase your risk for side effects. Medications that may cause negative interactions include includes vitamins, minerals, herbal products, and drugs prescribed by other doctors. Do not start using a new medication without telling your doctor amongst others.

Tropicacyl Eye Drops Overdose symptoms

Overdose symptoms include:

  • Headache
  • Fast heartbeat
  • Dry mouth and skin
  • Drowsiness
