Generic Name:trospium

Trospium helps in giving relief in spasms of the bladder.

It is used to treat overactive bladder and symptoms of urinary incontinence, frequency, and urgency.

How to use Trospium Tablets

Trospium may be used as follows:

  • You should take Trospium exactly as it was prescribed for you.
  • Never take amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor.
  • You can take the medicine with or without food.
  • In order to attain the best treatment use all of your medications as directed by your doctor.
  • Trospium should be taken with a full glass of water.
  • Always drink extra fluids while you are taking trospium. Trospium should be taken on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before a meal.

Cautions before Use Trospium Tablets

The following precautions must be taken care of when using Trospium

  • Never take this medicine if you are allergic to trospium, or if you have FDA pregnancy category C.
  • Trospium may be harmful to an unborn baby. Always remember to tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment.
  • The medicine should be taken on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before a meal.
  • Trospium is likely to cause side effects that may impair your vision, thinking, or reactions.
  • Never drive a vehicle or operate any heavy machinery or do any activity requires you to be awake and able to see clearly.
  • Never take other medicines that make you sleepy (especially cold or allergy medicine, narcotic pain medicine, sleeping pills, muscle relaxers, and medicine for seizures or anxiety).
  • Never drink alcohol as it tends to increase drowsiness caused by trospium.
  • Try not to become overheated or dehydrated during exercise and in hot weather.
  • This medicine can decrease sweating, whichcan result in heat stroke.
  • Remember to drink plenty of fluids while you are taking this medication.

Trospium Tablets Side Effects

Stop using Trospium and call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Less serious side effects

  • Dry mouth or throat
  • Dry eyes
  • Blurred vision
  • Constipation
  • Stomach pain
  • Bloating
  • Gas
  • Drowsiness
  • Mild skin rash

Trospium Tablets Interaction

When certain medications are taken together with Trospium drug interactions could occur that may affect the efficacy of the medicines. It can even increase your risk for side effects. Trospium can interact with other medicines such atropine (Atreza, Sal-Tropine, and others), dicyclomine (Bentyl) and glycopyrrolate (Robinul); resulting in side effects or altered effectiveness of Trospium.

Trospium Tablets Overdose symptoms

Overdose symptoms may include dry mouth, drowsiness, blurred vision, and dilated pupils.
