Uni-Dur is a prescription medicine that is used for the treatment of airway spasms caused by asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). This medicine is used for the treatment of airway spasms called bronchospasms. Bronchospasms are most common in people with asthma but can also occur in people with (COPD), which includes chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It is available in several different forms, including capsules, tablets, an elixir, and an injection. It has the active ingredient of Theophylline which works by causing muscles around the airways to relax, which helps to improve breathing. This medicine is also is used for the treatment of various conditions associated with airway spasms. Specifically, theophylline can be used to treat asthma and COPD. The medication has been approved for use in both adults and children. Some other possible uses of Uni-Dur include the treatment of methotrexate toxicity, sleep apnea, and severe asthma attacks that do not respond to other treatments.

How to Use Uni Dur Capsules

  • Uni-Dur comes in various forms, some of which are taken just once a day. Others are taken several times a day.
  • This medicine should be taken at the same times each day to maintain even levels of the drug in your blood.
  • The active ingredient of theophylline should be taken on an empty stomach or at least one hour before or two hours after a meal. It is best to take theophylline on an empty stomach, unless you are certain that it is okay to take your particular theophylline product with food.

Cautions before Use Uni Dur Capsules

  • Uni-Dur should not be used in people with ulcers, seizures or epilepsy, or an irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia), as this medicine may worsen the conditions.
  • The active ingredient of theophylline can be a very difficult medication to dose and because high levels of theophylline are dangerous, and you will need regular blood tests to measure the level of theophylline in your blood.
  • People suffering from Liver or kidney diseases should not take this medicine.
  • Those patients who are suffering from Pulmonary Edema are suggested to not to take this medicine.
  • Patients suffering from Hypothyroidism cannot take this medication.
  • Uni-Dur may not be safe for women who are pregnant.

Uni Dur Capsules Side Effects

The side effects which may arise due to the usage of Uni-Dur are as follows:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Headaches
  • Insomnia
  • Worsening breathing problems
  • Persistent vomiting
  • Irregular heart rhythms
  • Seizures
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, including unexplained rash, hives, itching,
  • Unexplained swelling and wheezing
  • Difficulty breathing or swallowing
