Vasotab

Generic Name: Brompheniramine and Phenylephrine

Vasotab is a medication that is prescribed for cough and cold problems. It contains 2 different drugs, an antihistamine called Brompheniramine and decongestant Phenylephrine. The expectorant effects of Brompheniramine promote drainage of mucus from the lungs by thinning the mucus. It also lubricates the irritated respiratory tract. Phenylephrine relieves stuffy nose by constricting blood vessels in the nasal air passages. This reduces the flow of fluid out of the blood vessels and into the tissues of the air passages. This medicine helps loosen congestion in your chest and throat, making it easier to cough out through your mouth. Phenylephrine is a decongestant that shrinks blood vessels in the nasal passages. Dilated blood vessels can cause nasal congestion (stuffy nose). The combination of Brompheniramine and phenylephrine is used to treat nasal and sinus congestion, and to reduce chest congestion caused by the common cold, infections, hay fever or allergies.
